Fees for Probate & Estate Administration Services

We appreciate that one of the many things you will want to know about the Probate process, are the costs involved and the timescales. This information is provided here in general form and we are always happy to speak to you about any questions you may have about our fees.

Our Philosophy

When instructing us to handle the administration of an estate, or certain aspects of the process, you are going to want to know how much it will cost. We aim to provide you with an accurate assessment of the costs involved as soon as we can.

We are a professional firm of solicitors, established over 200 years and our solicitors and fee earners are experts in their field and will provide you with the best advice for your circumstances.  Our solicitors and fee earners are members of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), the Private Client Section of the Law Society and our head of department, Michael Prendergast, is also a practising Notary Public as well as being a solicitor. We adhere to a rigorous and demanding code of conduct to ensure you get the best advice for your circumstances.

Unfortunately, Probate and Estate Administration in England and Wales is not a reserved legal activity which means that unregulated providers, who often profess to have some legal expertise, can offer Probate Estate Administration services regardless of whether they are insured, experienced or qualified to provide a full Probate service.

At Dickinson Parker Hill our Probate team includes specialist Probate Solicitors and Probate Executives who specialise in Private Client matters.

We are firmly of the opinion that it is far more beneficial to have an estate professionally administered than not. Tax planning opportunities can be taken advantage of, appropriate Inheritance Tax reliefs can be claimed, lay executors are afforded more protection and there is far less chance of any disputes arising to name but a few benefits.

We offer a bespoke personal service, you will generally have the same person handling the mater from start to finish, be able to speak to them on the phone and have meetings with them as and when necessary. Our charges therefore reflect the high level of expertise our fee earners and solicitors provide, the levels of service and the complexity of the work involved.

The following information aims to provide you with a guide as to how are charges are calculated. However, each estate is different and it is always better to speak to us as well as using the information available on our website.

Our Fees & Charges

Our charges will depend on the nature of our instructions and the work involved. In many cases, we are instructed to either obtain the Grant of Probate (Grant Only) or we are instructed to handle the administration of the entire estate (Full Administration).
